Upper Sac
Guided Fly Fishing Trips
Explore it All
When I think of the Upper Sacramento River, I think of cold crystal clear water.
It’s a very healthy river system and has some of the brightest and toughest fish to land. They are skilled at spitting your hooks.
There are nearly 30 miles of fishable river and most it are accessible by hiking along the train tracks. So as much as you’re willing, I’ll lead you back into some of the best stretches of the river I’ve found and show you how to use the mono rig to effortlessly tight-line the pocket water and the riffles and then throw on an indicator to get longer drifts through slower and deeper water.
This river is about catching high quality, not high numbers of fish. The clear water can be a bit technical, so I can help you dial in your dead drifts, find the strike zone and get eats.
It’s also an amazing dry fly fishery. The late afternoon hatches can come off strong and when they do, you can really cash in and net a dandy.
