Like you and many fly tyers, we love tying with Stripped Quills. Perfect Quills Synthetic is our synthetic alternative which provides the perfect quill every time which has a premarked black edging and looks natural! Peacock Quills may be subject to Cites checks as the wild Peacock is Cites protected and you may need to prove that your peacock is from a legal source, especially if you are travelling through customers. Unlike natural Quills which can be difficult to get hold of, or if you can source it, the quality is sometimes not what we hoped for. Natural Quills are often brittle and hard to use – you may have tried soaking it and experienced this first hand? However that is no longer an issue. Here you have Perfect Quills Synthetic ie a synthetic Quill!
This has been developed in 2 versions – True and Transparent and in 2 different sizes in each.
Perfect Quills Synthetic is available in small (#16-#22) and medium (#12-16).
In Olive Perfect Quills Synthetic there are 20 quills per pack. Each quill is 100mm in length (you can get 2 flies per quill depending on your fly size.
For the transparent quill anything tied below the Stripped Quill shows through, from threads to tinsels muted to a fluorescent thread, these base materials will shine through the transparent quill beautifully.
