It’s looking bad again for the McCloud River

Chart indicates the McCloud’s Turbidity or how cloudy the water is.

With the incredibly dry winter we had, the snowpack on Shasta is retreating fast. Last year this led to glacial melt sending mud down into the McCloud making it unfishable most of last year. It's already starting to get cloudy again. On this turbidity index, anything over 5 NTU is noticeably cloudy and 10-15 is the limit where it becomes too cloudy to fish.

It looks like the Mac is going to be closed again this year. Before you plan a trip, you can check for live data. Be sure to update the date at the bottom so you can plot the two most recent weeks.
