Wild BLM Mustangs at Litchfield
On June 24, 2026 we visited Litchfield to see what what BLM Mustangs were available for adoption. Typically the numbers we saw are considered very low. We looked at the 2-5yo Geldings, Yearling Geldings and Yearling Fillies. There were some burrows and several pens with older mares, but we were exhausted and we had to look through double fences, so we didn’t spend any time looking at them.
In Sept, they’re expecting to gather 900 more wild Mustangs and after they’re vaccinated, gelded and quarantined they’ll become available for adoption later in the fall. Despite the low numbers, we thought there were a number of awesome choices and honestly having more to look through would just create more analysis paralysis. At the time of this posting all of these were available for adoption if you’re in the market!
